CHRISTOPHER C. MUHA

PARTNER

An experienced civil litigator, Chris has spent the last 10 years defending students in Title IX cases and campus disciplinary matters across the country. He also represents individuals in a wide range of high-stakes and high-profile government investigations.

In his campus practice, Chris has secured victory for clients at all levels of the disciplinary process, and he has helped clients obtain relief from schools after their disciplinary processes have concluded. He has also litigated on behalf of campus clients in state and federal trial and appellate courts across the country, where he has yet to lose a lawsuit against a university. He successfully litigated for two years in state court on behalf of a client accused of sexual misconduct, where he uncovered extensive evidence of fraud by a school and its attorneys. And he successfully briefed and argued a groundbreaking Title IX matter in the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. With his partner Justin Dillon, he co-authored Title IX Hearings and Litigation: A Practitioner's Guide, published by The Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression.

Chris also represents government employees, contractors, and other private-sector actors in government investigations and enforcement actions. He has represented clients before myriad state and federal agencies, including inspectors general offices, agency enforcement divisions, the Office of Congressional Ethics, the House Committee on Ethics, and the Department of Justice. He represented three witnesses, including one cabinet-level official, in the House of Representatives’ impeachment inquiry into President Donald J. Trump. He also successfully briefed and argued in federal court on behalf of a former FBI employee sued in connection with his work on “Crossfire Hurricane,” the FBI’s investigation into President Trump’s 2016 campaign. And he has represented whistleblowers before multiple federal agencies, including one that resulted in one of the largest government-contracting qui tam awards in history.

Outside of his legal practice, Chris serves as President of the Brian Muha Memorial Foundation, a nonprofit devoted to underserved children and their families in Columbus, Ohio. The Foundation provides after-school recreation and tutoring to more than 200 children per week; funds multiple educational scholarships; and supplies food, clothing, rent-to-own housing, and employment opportunities to local families.

Chris is licensed to practice law in the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Virginia, and Ohio.
